Just a short hop across The Solent 

Easy to reach from the south coast of England, there is plenty to see and do on the island. Whether hiking, cycling or driving it is easy to get around and explore.
We were there for the Christmas period so a lot of touristy places were closed, but the walking was good though not particularly exciting, using public transport to get to the start and then to return at end.
