We have been lucky enough to visit some spectacular parts of Italy.
Venice, Pisa and Florence for some culture, and The Dolomites for thrills and excitement in the limestone mountains, hiking and climbing the via feratta in summer, and snow-shoeing and tobogganing in the winter.
Our first visit to Italy was to see Florence! We were stunned by the wealth of culture, (and by the superb ice cream. The Italians certainly know how to make the best).
The city is all about art, even the buildings are beautiful. We ended our visit by calling in to Pisa to see the leaning tower and the cathedral.
Venice was next. Again, lots of culture.
The city is amazing, but parts of it are crumbling.
Then we discovered the Dolomites; Wow! Stunning vistas and magical chalet villages typically alpine. Winter or summer you have more things to do than you can throw a stick at. Climbing, walking, snowshoeing, toboganning, riding, cycling and mountaineering if you want activity; painting, photography, touring if you want more gentle exercise. This particular winter had less snowfall than usual, but still good for some fun.
Then we visited in summer for a completely different experience
